Aero-TV At OSH21: Luminati Aerospace Pushes Rotary Winged Technology
Luminati Aerospace brought the latest iteration of their gyroplane to Oshkosh 2021. The company has been busy, setting records with their solar-powered, perpetual flight airplane and developing their all-electric rotorcraft systems. With Gyrodyne’s plans for the QH50, they now have a small portfolio of small gyro projects in the mix. Their Yron now has their 124 horsepower electric motor, capable of almost an hour of hover time.
Luminati Warns EVTOL Aircraft Developers About Battery Fires
Electric helicopter and drone developer Luminati Aerospace has urged eVTOL aircraft developers to take a fresh look at its approach to batteries, warning that the risk of fire has not been adequately addressed and offering a solution in the shape of its own technology. “Automotive battery technology is completely unsuitable for aerospace,” the company's CEO, Daniel Preston, maintained during a July 27 briefing during the EAA AirVenture show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Luminati Creates Vertically Integrated VTOL Development Business
In May 2019, Luminati Aerospace exhibited a vintage Gyrodyne XRON-1 Rotorcycle coaxial helicopter at the VFS Forum 75 in Philadelphia equipped with a small electric motor to power the pair of 20-ft (6-m) diameter rotor blades.
First Electric Helicopter Built In Little Falls Starts Testing
The first of eleven helicopters to be built in Little Falls is getting ready for static ground testing this week. Ten of those will be gas-powered, while the eleventh will be an all-electric version. The electric version is the same as a military gas-powered model, where 95 were produced for the Navy.
