Luminati VTOL, LLC was founded in 2015 by aerospace inventor, Daniel Preston, as a ‘skunkworks’ project with a single mission of delivering a state-of-the-art High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) aircraft to address military and commercial needs for a stratospheric telecommunications relay platform: primary application for use within 20 degrees of the equator to provide Internet connection for the remaining 4-billion people in the world without access.
Preston’s reputation for radically innovative design and his recent success setting a world record for the longest endurance UAV, attracted a “dream team” of the industry’s best engineers, scientists and visionaries within prime defense contracting, aircraft design and adaptive flight control. With several test flights completed, the realization of the company’s vision of perpetual stratospheric flight is now proven possible. The company’s design solutions has resulted in numerous game-changing technologies including vortex formation flight, wind energy harvesting, adaptive AI autopilot controls and industry leading ultra high density node lightweight composite fabrication.
Today, the company continues its innovation mission with recent acquisitions including Rotor Flight Dynamics/Dragon wings (the gold standard for 34 years), and the purchase of a 110,082, four-story manufacturing facility in Upstate New York. This technologically advanced environment supports today’s eVOTL and UAV manufacturing needs with: aerodynamic, virtual morphing wings using meta materials, ultra-lightweight, high-strength, woven composite material, aluminum composite helicopter blades, wind energy harvesting and AI autopilot solutions for eVTOL.
Over the years, Preston has been involved in numerous think tanks has worked as a prime contractor to 15 United States Department of Defense agencies as well as numerous defense and aerospace companies.
